We've spent 89 years engineering covers for paper and pulp mill service: press rolls handling sheet release, suction rolls under vacuum, calender rolls under heat and pressure, dryer rolls cycling through thermal extremes. Our chemist formulates for YOUR wet end chemistry and YOUR dry end thermal profile. Independent third-party labs validate it. Real numbers below.
Press section rolls work against thousands of pounds of nip pressure with the sheet releasing across the cover. Standard compounds wear unevenly, causing sheet defects and forcing more frequent grinds. Custom formulation extends time between grinds.
Suction rolls combine drilled-shell load with vacuum pull plus sheet contact. The compound has to resist tear initiation around the suction holes AND fatigue under repeated vacuum cycling. Generic compounds fail at the holes first.
Calenders combine high nip pressure with thermal cycling. Standard compounds drift in hardness over hours of service, throwing off the calendered sheet caliper. The compound has to be engineered to hold durometer across the full thermal range.
Wet end chemistry — retention aids, sizing agents, defoamers — attacks standard rubber over months. The compound has to resist your specific stock chemistry. Generic "paper grade" doesn't mean engineered for your fiber and additive package.
Heat cycling combined with steam exposure breaks down standard dryer roll covers at the edges first, then leads to barring across the face. Engineered thermal-stable compounds keep cover geometry intact.
Tissue and towel machines demand specialty companion rolls that survive the heat, the Yankee dryer interface, and the sheet crepe loads. We engineer compounds specifically for tissue/towel/sanitary applications.
Each compound below was developed to solve a real failure mode on a real paper machine. Download the spec sheets, then tell us which roll positions you're running and we'll recommend the right one — or build you a new formulation if none of these match your environment.
General workhorse compound for everyday paper machine roll service. Balanced performance for roll positions that need durability without specialized chemistry.
